These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and GURAX LLC (“GURAX,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your use of the Chorebel mobile apps (the “App”), the websites at chorebel.com and choreregistry.com (the “Website”), and any related services, together the “Service.” By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
Please read Section 17 carefully. It requires most disputes to be resolved by individual arbitration and waives class actions.
1. What Chorebel is
Chorebel is a private app for households. Members offer each other chores, agree on rewards and keep a record of points. Chorebel is a tool for families. It is not a payment service, an employer, or a marketplace for work.
2. Who can use Chorebel
- You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to start a household, to act as a household’s organizer or approving adult, or to sign up for the beta.
- If you are under 18, you may use Chorebel only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
- A child under 13 may use Chorebel only when invited into a household by their parent or legal guardian, who consents to the child’s use as described in our Privacy Policy. The parent or guardian is responsible for the child’s use of the Service.
3. Your account
- Your phone is your account. Chorebel identifies you by a secure credential stored on your device, protected by a 4-digit PIN that you choose. Keep your PIN private. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Recovery. If you add and verify an email address, you can restore your account on a new device. Without a verified email, a lost, reset or replaced device means the account cannot be recovered. We can’t restore it for you.
- Provide accurate information, and don’t impersonate anyone.
4. Households
- Each household has exactly one organizer. The organizer can invite and remove members and manage household settings, but can see only the chores they created or were offered, like everyone else.
- Adults invite new members in person using a single-use code that expires after 10 minutes. Only invite people you know and trust. Treat an invitation code like a key.
- A removed member keeps read-only access to their own history in that household.
5. Points, rewards and Cash Out
- Points have no cash value. Points and any currency name a household chooses (“Stars,” “Bucks,” and so on) are a record-keeping tool inside your household. They are not money, stored value, securities or a virtual currency. You can’t buy, sell, transfer or redeem them with GURAX.
- Rewards are private arrangements. Any reward attached to a chore, such as screen time, an outing or an allowance, is an arrangement between members of your household. GURAX is not a party to it and is not responsible for providing it.
- Cash Out is a record, not a transfer. Cash Out lets a household record that points were settled, for example “$10 allowance.” Chorebel doesn’t move, hold or transmit money.
6. Chorebel Pro and payments
- Some features are available only with a Chorebel Pro subscription. Pricing will be announced at launch and shown in the App before you buy.
- Subscriptions will be sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play and billed by them under their terms. Unless you cancel, a subscription renews automatically. You can manage or cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
- We may change which features are included in Free or Pro. If we remove a paid feature you’ve already paid for, we’ll tell you in advance.
7. Beta program
If you join the Chorebel beta, you’ll get pre-release versions of the App through Apple TestFlight or Google Play testing. Beta versions may contain bugs, change without notice, or be discontinued. Data in a beta may occasionally need to be reset. Beta access is free and provided “as is.” If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.
8. Your content
You own the content you add to Chorebel, such as chore descriptions, notes and photos (“Your Content”). You give GURAX a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process and display Your Content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the Service. You are responsible for Your Content. Make sure you have the right to share it, especially photos of other people.
9. Acceptable use
Don’t use the Service to:
- break the law or violate anyone’s rights;
- harass, threaten, exploit or harm anyone, especially a child;
- offer paid employment or gig work, or recruit people outside your household (Chorebel is for families, not labor);
- upload unlawful, sexually explicit, violent or hateful content;
- access another person’s account, or probe, scan or test the Service’s security without our written permission;
- reverse engineer, scrape, overload or interfere with the Service; or
- resell or commercially exploit the Service.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.
10. Educational content
The Website includes general information about child development, behavioral psychology and parenting, including our “Science of Yes” and “Parents’ Guide” pages. It is for general education only. It is not medical, psychological or professional advice. Talk to a qualified professional about your family’s specific needs.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use information, including information about children. It is part of these Terms.
12. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties such as Apple, Google, Amazon and the operating system on your device, and they have their own terms. We aren’t responsible for third-party services.
13. Our intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics and the Chorebel and GURAX names and logos, is owned by GURAX or its licensors and protected by law. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your household’s personal, non-commercial use.
14. Ending your use
You can stop using Chorebel at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing support@gurax.ai. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we discontinue the Service. If we discontinue the Service, we’ll give reasonable notice where we can. Sections 5, 8, 10 and 13 through 20 survive termination.
15. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GURAX DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON’T WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT NOTIFICATIONS WILL ALWAYS BE DELIVERED ON TIME. Chorebel doesn’t supervise children, and it is not a substitute for a parent’s or caregiver’s judgment.
16. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GURAX WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) US $50. Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.
17. Disputes and arbitration
Informal resolution first. Before filing a claim, contact us at support@gurax.ai. We’ll try to resolve it informally within 60 days.
Arbitration. If we can’t resolve it, you and GURAX agree to resolve any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration will take place in Wake County, North Carolina, or remotely. Either party may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court.
Class-action waiver. You and GURAX may bring claims only individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative proceeding.
Opt-out. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing support@gurax.ai within 30 days of first accepting these Terms.
18. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any claim not subject to arbitration will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Wake County, North Carolina.
19. Apple App Store terms
If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store:
- These Terms are between you and GURAX, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
- If the App fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any. Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing claims relating to the App, including product-liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal requirements, or consumer-protection claims.
- Apple is not responsible for investigating, defending or settling any claim that the App infringes a third party’s intellectual property.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
20. Changes and general terms
We may update these Terms. If we make a material change, we’ll notify you in the App or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and GURAX about the Service.
