How can we help?
General
What is Chorebel?
Chorebel is a family app for chores and rewards. A parent offers a chore to specific people or a group, attaches a reward — points, something real like screen time, both, or a choice — and approves the work when it’s done. Every agreement is recorded privately, so nobody forgets what was promised.
Who is Chorebel for?
Families with kids roughly 4 to 17, co-parents running two homes, grandparents who want to offer a grandchild a special job, and any household that wants chores to feel fair instead of fraught. Adults can offer chores to each other, too.
When can I download it?
Chorebel is coming soon to the App Store and Google Play. Join the beta to get early access — on iPhone through TestFlight, on Android through a Google Play testing link — and we’ll email you the moment it launches.
Is Chorebel free?
Yes. The free plan includes unlimited chores, points and rewards, Choice rewards, custom currency names, counter-offers and multiple homes, for households of up to 7 people. Chorebel Pro adds scheduled chores, Vacation Mode, unlimited members and households, and custom themes. Pro pricing will be announced at launch.
Does Chorebel show ads or sell my data?
No. There are no ads and no third-party analytics in the app, and we don’t sell personal information. See our Privacy Policy for the details.
Chores & rewards
Does Chorebel handle real money?
No. Points have no cash value and Chorebel never moves money. If your family converts points into allowance, record it with Cash Out — it deducts the points and keeps a note (like “$10 allowance”) in the ledger so everyone can see what was settled.
What is a counter-offer?
If a chore’s terms don’t feel right, the person it was offered to can suggest different ones — more points, a different reward, or a later deadline — exactly once, privately. The parent accepts or declines. There’s no back-and-forth, so negotiation stays a life skill instead of a nightly battle.
What are Choice rewards?
A chore can offer two rewards joined by “OR” — say, 12 Stars or 30 minutes of screen time. The person doing it picks before accepting, and only that reward is paid. Having a say is one of the strongest drivers of motivation.
What’s the difference between offering to people and to a group?
Offer to specific people and each of them accepts or declines. Offer to a group — like Kids — and the first person to claim it gets it; it disappears for everyone else. Both keep the chore visible only to the people it was offered to.
What happens if a chore isn’t done properly?
Tap Send it back. Chorebel requires a reason — “leaves swept, but the bins weren’t emptied” — so feedback is always specific and fixable, never just “no.”
Can I rename points?
Yes. Each household picks its own currency — Points, Stars, Coins, Gems, Bucks or Tickets — and a default value for new chores.
Households & invites
Does my child need an email or phone number?
No. A child needs only a first name and a 4-digit PIN. You type their name and age range when you invite them; they enter no personal information at all.
Can siblings see each other’s chores?
No. A chore is visible only to the people it was offered to. That’s enforced by the database itself, not just hidden in the app — so a special deal with one child never becomes a precedent or a source of envy for another.
How do family members join?
Tap Invite, enter their name and age range, and Chorebel shows a QR code. They scan it with the scanner in the app’s header while you’re together. Codes work once and expire after 10 minutes.
Can my child belong to two households?
Yes. Anyone can belong to several households — Mom’s house, Dad’s apartment, Grandma’s — and switch between them with one tap. Chores, points and currency stay separate in each home.
What happens if I remove someone?
They keep a read-only copy of their history and points in that household, and the organizer can let them back in later with a new code — their history continues where it left off.
Account & restore
I forgot my PIN. What now?
Tap “I forgot my PIN” on the unlock screen. If you’ve added a verified email, you can restore your account with a one-time code. The PIN never leaves your phone, so it can’t be reset any other way.
What if I lose my phone or get a new one?
If you added a verified email, open Chorebel on the new phone, choose “I already had Chorebel on another phone,” and restore your households, history and points with a one-time code. Your old phone is signed out. Without a verified email an account can’t be recovered — so we recommend adding one for every teen and adult.
Why do I need an email to start a household?
Running a household means you’re the only person who can manage it. A verified email makes sure it can always be recovered, so nobody else in the household is ever stranded.
Pro
What does Chorebel Pro add?
Scheduled chores that arrive automatically (every day, weekdays, weekends, chosen days, every few days or monthly), Vacation Mode to pause them all, Run Now, unlimited members and households, 8 color palettes plus a custom theme studio, and a household avatar.
How much will Pro cost?
Pricing will be announced at launch. Pro will be an in-app subscription through the App Store and Google Play. Everything on the free plan stays free.
