How Chorebel protects your family
Audience-only visibility
A chore is visible only to the person who created it and the people it was offered to. This is enforced by the database itself — with row-level security — so it can’t be undone by a bug in a screen. Even the household organizer can’t read chores they weren’t part of.
Private counter-offers
A counter-offer is visible only to the person who made it and the person who asked — an audience of two.
No child contact details
Children join with a first name and a PIN. The inviting adult enters their name and age range. No email, phone number or location is collected for a child.
Guardian consent, in person
Under-13s are invited by a parent or guardian, who confirms consent while showing the QR code — so an adult is demonstrably in the room.
Single-use, 10-minute invites
Invite codes work once and expire after 10 minutes, and grant membership only. There’s no public link to forward or phish.
Photos without location
Location and other metadata are stripped from photos when they’re uploaded.
Voice stays on the phone
Spoken chores are transcribed on your phone into text. The recording isn’t uploaded or kept.
No ads, no trackers
There’s no advertising and no third-party analytics in the app — and none on this website, either.
PIN plus secure storage
Your account key lives in your phone’s secure hardware storage. The PIN never leaves the device, and repeated wrong guesses lock the app for a growing interval.
Kids' accounts
Designed with children's privacy laws in mind.
Chorebel was designed around the principles of COPPA in the U.S. and children's-data rules like GDPR-K and the UK Age Appropriate Design Code: collect as little as possible, involve a parent, and keep it private by default.

A few honest trade-offs.
No email means no recovery.
Because we don't collect contact details by default, an account without a verified email can't be restored if a phone is lost. We recommend adding an email for every teen and adult. You'll need one to start a household.
Invites are meant to happen in person.
An invite also shows a short code for when scanning isn't possible. Treat it like a key: share it only with the person you're inviting. It works once and expires in 10 minutes.
Owning a household is administrative, not surveillance.
Organizers manage members and settings, but they see only the chores they created or were offered — just like everyone else.
